We believe this is a photo of Martha that was sent from Argentina by her son John Hudson to her son (his brother) Alfred Hudson in Liverpool. This photo is a postcard that was among the possessions of Alfred Henry Hudson (1871-1958). They were given to us at Kew National Archives on September 8, 2018 by Sue Dawson. Sue's maternal aunt was Alfred's second wife, Miriam Ann Nixon.
The back of the postcard is printed "TARJETA POSTAL UNION UNIVERSAL DE CORREOS (Carte postal - Union Postale Universelle)". Also on the back is this handwritten note: "Copy of photo of dear mother. I forget whether I sent you one of these before." It must have been sent in a package, because there are no stamps or postmarks.
Peter and Martha's children were John (b. Apr 25, 1865, d. Aug 20, 1950), Charlotte (b.1866, d.1911), Peter (b.1868, d. Sep. 13 1877) and Alfred (b.1871, d. 1958). They were orphaned when Martha died of tuberculosis on September 14, 1874. The family lived at 53 Eastlake Street in Everton, Liverpool.
