William Hudson 1773 - before 1835

William was a younger brother of Henry Hudson of Linthorpe, North Yorkshire. Henry's 1835 will mentions a deceased brother named William, and living siblings named James, John and Susannah. These names are repeated in John Hudson's letter about the Hudson family history.

William was born in Newton-le-Willows on April 17, 1773 and baptised the next day at the parish church in Patrick Brompton.

William married Mary Brush on May 16, 1803 at St. Nicholas Church in Liverpool, and raised his family there. The parish records show the birth of sons Henry (February 17, 1804), John (October 3, 1806), a daughter Mary (March 5, 1810) and Thomas in 1817.

William's occupations are given as coachman when he married in 1803, a publican (owner or manager of a pub) in 1804, and as Officer of the Excise (collector of customs tax on imports) in 1810.

During this time the family lived on Ormond Street in Liverpool:

We cannot find record of the deaths of William or Mary. William was deceased by the time Henry wrote his will in 1835.

Our Hudson line is descended from William's son John.
